“Thatcher’s Peak Finder for Mt Marcy” is now available.
“Thatcher’s Peak Finder” answers the proverbial Adirondack question, “What are we looking at?”

Lake Titus, NY - Thatcher’s Peak Finder for Mt Marcy” is now available. The new Peak Finder identifies the mountains and landmarks seen in the exceptional, 360 degree views from Mt Marcy’s summit, including the Adirondack High Peaks, lakes, watersheds, and smaller summits, all within thousands of acres of surrounding Adirondack Park lands.

Mt Marcy is one of the most popular summit trails in New York State’s Adirondack Park. The mountain is located approximately 15 miles southeast of Lake Placid, NY. It is the tallest of the “Adirondack High Peaks” and the summit is also the highest point in New York State.

Historical notes in the new Peak Finder include short biographies of the people making the first recorded ascent of
Mt Marcy in 1837, plus a description of Verplanck Colvin’s stormy, November, 1875 ascent and measurement of the mountain, when he declared the height of Mt Marcy to within a thousandth of a foot: 5,344.311 feet.

Thatcher’s Peak Finder for Mt Marcy also identifies the Adirondack High Peaks and landmarks in the famous panoramic view from the intersection of State Route 73 and the Adirondack Loj Road (4 miles southeast of Lake Placid on Route 73); plus the impressive view of the MacIntyre Range as seen from Indian Falls, located on the historic Hoevenberg Trail to Mt Marcy, which starts at the Adirondack Mountain Club’s Information Center parking lot at Adirondack Loj.

Thatcher’s Peak Finder for Mt Marcy is the fourth deck in the series of Adirondack hiking guides which identifies the views from many of the Adirondack Park’s most popular and rewarding summits.

The guides are available in a variety of bookstores and from AdirondackPeakFinders.com.

About Thatcher’s Peak Finders
There are lots of great hiking guides for the Adirondacks, but when you reach the summits and overlooks one question still remains: What are we looking at?

Thatcher’s Peak Finders answer that question. Small enough to fit in a pocket of a day pack, each Peak Finder has a sturdy plastic rivet that holds the deck of line drawings together, allowing individual pages to simply rotate out of the deck like the blade of your favorite pocket knife. The pages’ detailed drawings are created from original photography shot specifically for each peak, so they represent what hikers will typically see without binoculars, and without distortion. Adirondack High Peaks that can be seen are also highlighted with their height and historic rank.
